Stay Alert – Beware of This Sneaky Job Interview Scam

Download Graphics to View Let's say you (or someone you know) is looking for a new job. Unfortunately, scammers are also looking — for a new victim! In one of the latest scams going around, you're asked to download some software before beginning an online job interview with what you think is a legitimate company. In actuality, what you're installing is malware, spyware, or remote-control tools (like PyLangGhost or AnyDesk) that steal personal data or hijack your device.

To protect yourself, thoroughly research job postings to make sure there's nothing suspicious before you accept an interview. Here are some of the red flags:
  1. The job is too good to be true.
  2. You can't find the company's information online.
  3. Emails don't include contact information about the company.
  4. The job requirements and description are vague.
  5. Your interviewer asks you to share confidential information.
During a job hunt, your job is to proceed carefully and not get scammed.
