Premiering in 1964 and running for eight seasons, Bewitched was the longest running of the so-called "fantasy sitcoms" that dominated the airwaves in the mid-1960s. It was about a witch, Samantha, who marries a mortal man, Darrin Stephens. Bewitched went off the air in 1972, a year after All in the Family ushered in a new era of reality sitcoms. For decades, Bewitched held the record for the fantasy genre show with the most episodes — 254 in total. Charmed (1998) has 180 episodes, and Smallville (2001) has 217 episodes. The record was finally broken by Supernatural (2005), which ended with 266 episodes. © 2024 ABC Entertainment
