That's Right!

You Chose "D" Sierra Springs – That's Correct!

Mr. Monk would only drink Sierra Springs bottled water.

The Monk series aired from 2002-2009 and was the first basic cable series to be nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Comedy. It follows Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub), a brilliant former San Francisco detective, who now assists the police as a private consultant.

Mr. Monk battles with an obsessive-compulsive disorder, which helps explain his refusal to drink any bottled water other than real-life brand Sierra Springs in the first five seasons. In season six, ostensibly due to a contract termination between Sierra Springs and USA Network, the brand of water was changed to the fictional Summit Creek.

TV history could have turned out quite differently. Tony Shalhoub auditioned for the role of Kramer on Seinfeld, and Michael Richards was considered for the title role on Monk. Richards passed, and Shalhoub took the role on Monk. Richards won three Emmys for playing Kramer, and Shalhoub won three Emmys for playing Monk.
