Since childhood, Alfonso Ribeiro has contributed his talents to the worlds of television, theater, and beyond as an actor, director, award-winning dancer, and Broadway star. However, The Cosby Show is not on his long list of projects. Ribeiro's career highlights include being cast as Ricky Schroder's best friend on the long-running series Silver Spoons. Before landing the role of Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ribeiro did a guest spot in a Season 3 episode of A Different World. His character, Zach Duncan, was expected to join as a series regular in the fourth season, but the actor was forced to choose between the two influential NBC sitcoms. He later joined the fun of TV competitions, becoming the host of America's Funniest Home Videos and the winner of Dancing with the Stars season 19.
