That's Right!

Wednesday's pet named Homer was a black widow spider.

The Addams Family was a TV show about the misadventures of a blissfully macabre but extremely loving family. Wednesday was the daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams, and rounding out the creatively creepy group was son Pugsley, Uncle Lurch, Grandmama, Cousin Itt, and Thing.

Not surprisingly, ordinary pets wouldn't be right for The Addams Family. That's why Wednesday had a black widow spider named Homer. Also inside the mansion was the family's pet lion named Kitty Cat, pet vulture named Zelda, and a polar bear rug named Bruno that growled whenever someone walked on it.

Wondering how Wednesday got her name? It's a reference to the nursery rhyme that says, "Wednesday's child is full of woe."

Both The Addams Family and its rival series, The Munsters, debuted in September 1964. But the frightful fun didn't last long. By the end of the following year, the two series were canceled.
