In 1982 Hanks showed up on Happy Days as a long-time rival of the Fonz, who was looking to settle an old score. It was the first time on the show someone hit Fonzie. Happy Days aired from 1974 to 1984 and resulted in seven spinoffs: Laverne & Shirley, Blansky's Beauties, Mork & Mindy, Out of the Blue, Joanie Loves Chachi, The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang (animated), and Laverne & Shirley with The Fonz (animated). Of the spinoffs, Laverne & Shirley was the most successful. Despite riding one on the show, Henry Winkler was afraid of motorcycles in real life. Most of the time, when his character Fonzie is seen riding his bike on the show, it was actually attached to a platform and pulled by a truck. © 2020 ABC Entertainment
