General Lee was the name of the Dodge Charger in The Dukes of Hazzard.

The Dukes of Hazzard was a 1970s American action-comedy series that ran on CBS from 1979 to 1985.

The series followed the adventures of cousins Bo Duke (played by John Schneider) and Luke Duke (played by Tom Wopat) who lived on a family farm in fictional Hazzard County, Georgia. On probation for distilling moonshine, they often raced around in their Dodge Charger (dubbed "General Lee"), confounding the corrupt county commissioner Boss Hogg and his sheriff and deputies.

The cousins' escapades frequently involved car chases that resulted in crashes, and many cars were destroyed during production. When Dodge stopped making the Charger, it became much harder to replace "General Lee" for subsequent episodes. Eventually, if the show's producers spotted a Dodge Charger on the street, they would offer to buy the car from its owner on the spot.

The family-friendly show aired for a total of 147 episodes during its seven-season run, and over half of the fan mail for the show was actually addressed to the General Lee.
