Family Feud first aired on ABC in 1976

Family Feud is an American game show in which two teams, each made up of five members from the same family, compete to name the most popular responses to different survey questions.

The show began as a daytime game show but gained popularity so quickly that the creators decided to launch an evening edition in 1977. Initially airing one night a week, by September 1980, the show had expanded to five nights a week, Monday through Friday.

Family Feud has had three different runs. The original show ran from 1976 to 1985 with host Richard Dawson. In 1988, the show was brought back with host Ray Combs and ran until 1995. Family Feud was revived for a third time in 1998, and continues to air today with host Steve Harvey. The winner of several Emmy awards, it has spawned more than 50 adaptations around the world.
