The Flintstones was an animated American sitcom that aired on ABC from September 30, 1960, to April 1, 1966, and was the first animated series to hold a prime-time slot. The show was set in a comical version of the Stone Age and followed the lives of Fred and Wilma Flintstone and their next-door neighbors, Betty and Barney Rubble. Although they used primitive technology — driving cars that were powered by people who ran while inside them — their world bore a striking resemblance to mid-20th-century suburban America. The Flintstones was the longest-running (and most financially successful) network animated franchise for 30 years. In 2013, TV Guide ranked The Flintstones the second-greatest TV cartoon of all time (after The Simpsons). © Disney. All rights reserved. ©2019 Cornerstone Publishing Group Inc.
